Archival Studies emphasis available to students

The MU iSchool continues to welcome students to its graduate archival education program. With the Archival Studies emphasis at Mizzou — now available online in Fall 2020 — students gain the knowledge and professional readiness to pursue careers as archivists, records managers, collection curators, metadata catalog librarians, and managers of photo, film, video, and multimedia collections. Comprising a three-course progressive sequence, the Archival Studies emphasis meets the guidelines of the Society of American Archivists and is pre-approved for the Certified Archivist examination. Dr. Sarah Buchanan serves as the Archival Studies emphasis leader, advises the Society of American Archivists at University of Missouri Student Chapter (SAAMUSC), and is active in the Missouri Association for Museums and Archives. Dr. Buchanan notes that “Archivists are needed everywhere more than ever, fulfilling vital memory and record keeping functions. It’s a pleasure teaching students who endeavor to meet the records needs of our communities.” New student members can join the Society of American Archivists at https://www2.archivists.org/membership/student.
