Astronomy lecture to focus on software!

Lanika Ruzhitskaya, a postdoctoral fellow in the University of Missouri Department of Physics and Astronomy, will deliver this month’s “Cosmic Conversations” lecture. Her talk, “The Universe on your Computer,” looks at the capabilities and underlying mechanisms of imaging technology.

The lecture is scheduled for 7 p.m. tomorrow in Room 120 of the physics building. The event is free and open to the public.

Ryzhitskaya’s presentation will highlight Stellarium, Worldwide Telescope and Google Sky planetarium software. She also will incorporate the animated film “Quantum Quest: a Cassini Space Oddyssey” into her lecture.

The MU Department of Physics and Astronomy in the College of Arts and Science and the Central Missouri Astronomical Association host the monthly lecture series.
